Aerial Survey Viewer, also known as aerial sketchmapping, is a remote sensing technique of observing forest change events from an aircraft and documenting them manually onto a map.

National Forest Health Monitoring is a national program designed to determine the status, changes, and trends in indicators of forest condition on an annual basis.

United Nation Environment Programme/GRID-Arendal service is an on-going project to collect and catalogue all graphic products that have been prepared for publications and web-sites from the last 15 years in a wide range of themes related to environment and sustainable development.

National Tribal Forest and Natural Resource Information

The Intertribal Timber Council web page is here you will find information about Native American forestry and natural resources.

National Atlas provides a larger context within which to describe a nation's people, places, and resources.

The "American Indian Reservations and Indian Trust Areas" is a compendium of information about the economic infrastructure of these areas. The material is arranged geographically, and is presented in small files based on location.

Cyber-Sierra's Conservation is a link to the special status of Tribes as sovereign nations, and the complexities of environmental legislation intertwined with treaties illustrate that good working relationships are essential for conservation projects.

American Indian Higher Education
The American Indian Higher Education Consortium AIHEC has grown to represent 34 colleges in the United States and one Canadian institution. Unlike most professional associations, it is governed jointly by each member institution.

There are 32 tribal colleges and universities serving a total of about 30,000 students, 85 percent of whom live at or below the poverty level.

Argonne National Laboratory, Environmental Assessment Division (EAD): GIS and Natural Resources. GIS projects in EAD are involved with many disciplinary area, including air quality, cultural resources,k ecology, and soils hydrology and water resources, land use planning and management, noise, public communication and many more areas.

Geodata.gov Your one stip for Finding and Using Geographic Data: Geodat.gov will help you: Find Data or Map Services, Make a Map, Browse Community Information, Cooperate on Data Acquisitions Save searches, maps, and your favorite geography to re-use later.

Federal Geographic Data Committee. The Federal Geographic Data Committee is a 19 member interagency committee composed of representatives from the Executive Office of the President, Cabinet-level and independent agencies.

ESRI, The Guide to Geographic Information Systems: What is GIS? ESRI has provided GIS software and training for many years. This site provides a variety of resources for those exploring the use of GIS for natural resource planning and other applications.

One Planet Many People. Through a combination of ground photographs, current and historical satellite images, and narrative based on extensive scientific evidence, this publication illustrates how humans have altered their surroundings and continue to make observable and measurable changes to the global environment.

U.C. Berkeley Library: Dictionary of Abbreviations and Acronyms in Geographic Information System, Cartography, and Remote Sensing. This dictionary decodes abbreviations and acronyms found in variour publications including maps and websites. These abbreviations or acronyms, therefore, are not necessarily authoritative or standardized in format or contents.

USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS): Maps, Imagery, Data & Analysis. Links to NRCS base map coverage, status maps, the National Resources Inventory (NRI) database and data bases on soil, water and climate, plants for conservation, and other subjects.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service GIS & Spatial Data(Geographic Information Systems) Home Page is maintained by the National Data Administration Office of Information Resources and Technology Management, located in Lakewood, Colorado.We are expanding our involvement in GIS activities in the US Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), with an emphasis on the spatial data aspects of GIS.

U.S. Geological Survey: Geographic Information Systems Poster. The USGS has created a poster providing a variety of basic information for those exploring GIS and its application.

U.S. Geological Survey: The National Map is a consistent framework for geographic knowledge needed by the Nation. It provides public access to high-quality, geospatial data and information from multiple partners to help support decision making by resource managers and the public.

Virtual Terrain Project (VTP) The goal of VTP is to foster the creation of tools for easily constructing any part of the real world in interactive, 3D digital form. This goal will require a synergetic convergence of the fields of CAD, GIS, visual simulation, surveying and remote sensing. VTP gathers information and tracks progress in areas such as procedural scene construction feature extraction, and rendering algorithms.
