2. March “Acoustic Technology: Use of Nondestructive Evaluation Technologies”

About twenty five people filled tables at the Culture Building to learn about acoustic technology. The team of presenters demonstrated how acoustic technology is used to measure variation in the velocity of sound, using the beams in the Culture Building as stand-in-demonstration trees. They noted that Menominee’s Forest ranks high amongst some of the world’s oldest and most treasured places. “Trails Forward” is a virtual participatory simulation which propels users into crucial ecological and economic roles within rural Wisconsin. In a presentation, attendees learned and saw how “Trails Forward” simulates the emergent economic and environmental effects of users’ decisions on a multi-agent model of land and forest economy and ecology.
